Child Protective Investigative Team

of Loudon, Meigs, Morgan & Roane Counties Ninth Judicial District

The mission of CPIT is to “work together through a collaborative, inter-agency approach to ensure the best possible outcome for children who are victims of sexual abuse and severe physical abuse”.

Adopted in April, 2002, the Child Protective Investigative Team Protocol was created and is a working protocol between the following community partners: Law Enforcement, Department of Children’s Services, Mental Health Providers, Medical Providers, Child Advocacy Center staff and the District Attorney General of the Ninth Judicial District as we work together to best serve victims of child abuse and their non-offending caregivers. The CPIT Protocol serves as a guideline to facilitate the “detection, intervention, prevention and treatment” of child abuse in the 9th Judicial District.

Kids First CAC provides training opportunities to all members of our CPIT. These training opportunities have been made possible by a grant, local non-profit organization with a belief in education and protecting children. During 2012-2013 we had the privilege of offering the following training opportunities:

District-wide CPIT Training – “Heart of the Matter”:
56 CPIT attendees (6 CAC staff)

East Tennessee “Everyday Heroes Unite”:
17 CPIT attendees (2 CAC staff)

Advanced Forensic Interview Training:
Attended by 1 CAC therapist (back-up Forensic Interviewer)

CCJ-Connecting for Children’s Justice Conference:
15 CPIT attendees (5 CAC staff)

CPIT Meetings (each county once per month):
120+ CPIT attendees

TBI-Interview and Interrogation School:
16 CPIT attendees (DCS caseworkers and Investigators with no CAC staff in attendance)

All of the training opportunities for our CPIT members were made possible by The Good Neighbor’s Shoppe, Inc. of Lenoir City.  We could not afford such opportunities without their on-going support and dedication to our mission “to heal the pain of child abuse.”

Our Mission is TO HEAL THE PAIN OF CHILD ABUSE.
